Week 22

Well, this week was something else. Starting off the week with last
P-day we went everywhere we could with china town to Lego land.
Tuesday my companion elder mora (also my trainee) needed to go to the
hospital. He has been having problems adjusting to the missionary life
and has had a lot of problems with his mentality of the mission. He is
a good missionary in terms of opening his mouth and working, but he
does it when he feels like it not when he is supposed to, I have
learned a lot from him in that. Being a trainer is harder than I
expected, trying to be loving yet firm. Elder mora has an interesting
story to tell, but let's just say he doesn't know anything really
about the gospel and that the first time he heard the first vision was
in the MTC. So we have to start from scratch, teaching him the basic
about the gospel and definitely the Book of Mormon. But what he learns
he has a powerful testimony in and he gives it to anyone that will
hear. I live in a four-man flat and it seems like I'm doing all the
cooking and cleaning if this is how Savannah and my mom felt when she
took care of me she is a true saint sent from heaven. It is my quest
to completely have that flat clean this p day.
Getting into the good stuff, my studies have been truly centered on
teaching like Christ taught, Especially on how I ask questions. It's a
silly thing missionary work, you will literally ask any question to
get someone to stop and talk to you. "What is the favorite part of
your coat?" Or "on a scale of 1-10 tell me how happy you are?".
Everyone seems to give the same answer for both which is "sorry I have
no time", and I found myself getting cynical towards the people I was
talking to. Because I realized you can literally ask anyone anything
and they will not listen or process what you said through their
brains. So you have to focus on not what you ask but how you ask it.
Since we work only with YSA ages we have to really hand pick who we
talk to, not just everyone which was a really big adjustment for me.
Usually, we aim for families or couples, but now if we stop them you
basically get ex-communicated because of how strict it is to just talk
to YSA. Elder mora and I have had some funny miscommunications and
conversations with these curious minds of the YSA, with interesting
theories of the origins of religion to our accents. Like I said we
will do anything for a fulfilling conversation. I will share one funny
story of one of my own conversations. We were traveling back to the
flat after a hard days work and I usually love to talk to people on
the train because they have nowhere to go (can't preach on the train
because I only work with YSA). I started talking with this young lady
and in trying to start a conversation I noticed she had headphones
on, I asked what she was listening to and in response, she put her
headphones in my ear and we listened and talked for a while. Turns out
she is just a tourist and we gave her our number and card, but it
turned into a pretty funny picture
